5 Reasons You Should Do a Pro Photo Shoot

We all have those pictures, you know the ones sitting in that chair with our mother or siblings, the one with the funky backdrop or digital pattern and a big smile plastered on our faces. (Please try not to laugh too hard at mine.) When you see it, it's like time traveling back to the era of disposable cameras and backroom photo studios. You know the time before there were smartphones and digital cameras...yeah the dark ages...but we're in 2018 now and those days are in the past ( for most of us anyway). We glowed up and the selfie game is strong, so why would you ever want to book a photo shoot with a professional photographer?

Why do we even take pictures though? For me, it has a lot to do with capturing moments in life that I want to last. Each second that passes is gone forever, but a photo freezes a fraction of that second and you get to keep it...even if you lose it, the image remains etched into your memory. Now it's even easier to share your captured moments with other people, they get to see your world from your point of view. Outside of that though it just has those days my when hair is fire, and I want to share that with the world cause you know it never happens when I have to leave the house.

So here they are...My 5 reasons you should book a professional photographer to take your photo at least once in your life.

#1. Professionals kinda know what they're doing...most of us do.

Whether you're uncomfortable in front of cameras, or you know exactly what you want and all your best angles; a photographer's job is to make you feel relaxed and confident. That way you can look your best.

#2. A healthy dose of glamour and self love is good for everyone.

Outside of your wedding day and maybe a birthday, a photo shoot is a day when you're the center of attention. Between the hair, makeup and camera snapping you walk out of there feeling like Tyra Banks. It's a great confidence booster.

#3. Because the whole family can be in the photo...that's including you.

You're at a family event and you want to take a photo to remember the day that everyone was there, but someone has to take the picture right? Big family or small, someone has to do it, why not make a day where someone else can take gorgeous photos that you all get to be apart of.

#4. You should have some nice photos of yourself on the wall so everyone can admire.

Photos aren't just for your Facebook wall if you'd believe it. I love printed photos much more than digital, just something about the feel of something real and not so easily erased. Hanging a photo on your wall adds a personal touch and grabs attention. So get your glam shots and show them off.

#5. Just Because

You don't always need a special reason to have a day of glamour and celebration of life.

As a photographer, I'm hardly ever on the other side of the lens, so I decided to take a walk in life as a model, a short one but a model nonetheless...no pressure. The next thing I had to do was to get a photographer; I wanted to get someone with a style that was similar to mine. I chose @vivid.heart because I had met him before and realized we go for similar angles in shooting and I loved his style. So I set up a photo shoot to see what it feels like to be one of my clients.

On the day of the shoot, I got really nervous...I thought I would have done so much filth even though I'd been to photo shoots before. My insecurities were surfacing because the thing is...I can be a ditz in front the camera. I talk a lot; gesticulate a lot; make really weird faces and blink a hell of a lot apparently. In my head, the photo should turn out to be really adorable because I'm going for the whole candid vibe. In reality, though I end up looking like I’m having a seizure.

But none of my fears came true because I was working with a pro and like I said, most of us know what we're doing. Here are some more shots from my shoot, I think I did pretty good, yeah?
